Lorain Gilbert-Fontana, PT, MHS

Physical Therapist

Well known for her excellence, Lorain has been provoding patients with outstanding physical therapy for 43 years. She believes that the key to a successful outcome is a thorough evaluation and patient participation in the rehabilitation process. Lorain has extensive experience in a variety of settings including pediatrics, orthopedics, pain management, acute care, and brain injury rehabilitation. She is certified in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) of adult hemiplegia and is a Registered Therapeutic Horseback Riding Instructor. She has attended many courses in manual therapy including McKenzie, Strain/Counter-strain, Feldenkrais, Duffy-Rath, Cranial Sacral Therapy and Mulligan Manual Therapy Techniques.

Lorain attended Mississippi State University, received a BS from University of Utah, and has a Master's in Health Sciences from LSU Medical Center. Her past work experiences include management in acute care setting, multi-disciplinary team treatment, and owner of Physical Therapy Works. Lorain enjoys working with patients in nontraditional settings such as the pool or the arena. Her love for horses has become blended in the treatment setting by using the movement of the horse to enhance the movement of the patient. She has been a therapeutic riding instructor for over 10 years and delights in the accomplishments of the riders in their effort to overcome adversity.

Lorain has been a member of The American Physical Therapy Association for over 35 years and has attended numerous continuing education classes.
